November 12 The wayback machineWell - here is the secret to my good looks - genetics. That's great grandpa Robert Lee "Bob" Wright on the left. Then grandpa Derrel "Dick" Gard Wright. Then Dick with his three sons - Gene (my dad), Darrel, and Mike (L--> R). I also now know where I got my propensity for taking really bad photos. Fortunately it is not possible to inherit 70s fashion... Aren't old pics great! These are priceless. Thanks for sharing Beth. These gems and more are all uploaded to this gallery. I'm also uploading these to my skydrive if anybody else wants to download them. November 11 Remember the Wooden High Chair Days?Aunt Beth sent me this cool photo of Lance back in the day when they had wooden high chairs. Remember those days? This picture was taken when we were at a restaurant in Boise - I think when we were there for a family reunion. Back in those days we still had family reunions. Nowadays we have family happen-to-be-in-roughly-the-same-place-so-why-not-get-together-for-an-afternoons. Anyway - the cool thing about this picture is that it shows two of my cousins kids (Trevor and Jasen). Trevor just left on a mission this week. Lance leaves in January and Jasen is leaving in February. If only Grandma Wright could see us all now. November 06 My BrotherThis is a picture of my brother, Lance.
Yes, that is a polka dot bow in his hair. I don't know, don't ask. But what I do know is that he is a champ of a little bro. There's 12 years between us. I guess he was some kind of "blessing"/"surprise" for my parents. He's a BYU right now studying some stuff, but mostly goofing off like all Freshmen do when they first move away from home. Pretty soon he is going on his mission to Tallahassee, FL. For the most he is just like me - attitude, sassy, goal-oriented, handsome, smart, good-looking... Woah - some people might think I am trying to compliment myself but I'm not... I'm complimenting my brother. Really. But on the other hand he is completely different than me. I sometimes wonder if he was born in the Wrong family instead of the Wright family. Get it? Har har. Sorry - just another one of those lame play on words things that comes so freely having a last name of 'Wright'. How is he different you ask? Well - he likes singing, playing instruments, drama - refined, artsy stuff like that. He likes people. He likes going to parties. But that is what is so cool about us being bros. He is everything I am not. We're like ying/yang dude. And we have enough stuff in common - computers, tech stuff, playing xbox, etc. to keep it real. I'm super proud of my brother. You see one of the other things about my bro is that he was born with CMT. I wont try to explain it in detail - that's what Wikipedia is for. Suffice it to say that this is a nerve disorder that ultimately has resulted in a lack of muscle development which has led to various surgeries, Scoliosis, braces, etc. that Lance has had to endure over the years. But the thing is that if you were to meet my brother, you would have no idea there was anything wrong. He is so upbeat and positive about things. He has accomplished WAY more than most people that don't have to deal with these kinds of challenges. I always wondered how he would get along in school and all that, but he has this amazing magnetic personality. People love hanging out with him. He is universally liked by kids, peers, and grown ups. He's always been an inspiration to me and I know he has been to others too. If you ever tell him something like that though he doesn't believe it. He thinks he is just being himself, but he doesn't realize what an positive role model he is for other people of all ages around him. Here's to you bro! I love you dude, but we got to talk about that bow in your hair thing. That's just not inspiring to others. :) |
